That’s what happened to Vince Hunter of Dallas last week as he and his wife were visiting family 1,500 miles away in Connecticut.

On Friday, while Hunter was out pumping gas, a $4.99 iPhone app called iCam sent Hunter a text message that the motion detectors in his house had been activated. Using his phone, he was able to watch live video captured by webcams he’d installed around his home.

Porsche has released a new video of the sleek 918 Spyder hybrid. In the video Michael Mauer, Porsche AG Design Chief, sheds some light on the journey behind the 918 Spyder, while the car makes its driving debut on a closed road in Monterey, California. The 918 Spyder hybrid packs a mid-mounted 500HP 3.4 liter V8 engine in addition to a pair of electric motors which produces an impressive 218-horsepower. Production for the hybrid is already in progress and pricing is expected to be around $650,000.

New crime prediction software being rolled out in the nation’s capital should reduce not only the murder rate, but the rate of many other crimes as well.

Developed by Richard Berk, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, the software is already used in Baltimore and Philadelphia to predict which individuals on probation or parole are most likely to murder and to be murdered.

A television series about zombies? Believe it or not folks, the Frank Darabont produced AMC series The Walking Dead is one of the most anticipated shows on the fall schedule. Darabont, no stranger to serialized fiction or horror, having adapted and directed three Stephen King stories for the big screen, took an interest in the Image comics black and white publication created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore. It was a pretty gruesome and inventive series, which followed its own rules and focused on small-town police officer Rick Grimes who along with his family, bands together with a number of survivors to journey through a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse.

Legendary CBS Investigative Reporter Harold Dow Passes Away

I have the tragic news to report that legendary CBS correspondent, journalist, and investigative reporter Harold Dow has passed away from yet unknown causes earlier today.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dow the past week and working with his wonderful wife Kathy Dow on a movie called Payin The Price. I did not know him well but he was loved and respected by his family and he just had the look and attitude of the coolest man on the planet. I would like to send my love and heartfelt condolences to Kathy and Danica Dow and the rest of his children in their time of tremendous need. To the legendary Mr. Harold Dow, your great work will never be forgotten and we thank you for constantly paving the way for black journalists to succeed at the highest levels. You will be sorely missed.
